Issues of sexual abuse

It takes a lot of courage to acknowledge that you have or may have been sexually abused at some point in your life. I am so glad that you have decided to reach out and begin your healing journey, and that you feel ready to talk about your experience .

At this moment in time, I do not feel confident that online counselling is the most appropriate approach to deal with such sensitive an issue as sexual abuse.  I have worked face-to-face with many individuals who have survived sexual abuse or some other form of sexual trauma, and I know that it can be a difficult, painful road to recovery. I believe it will be safer and more effective for you to travel this road with the in-person support of a trained professional. I do hope to one day be able to offer online therapy for sexual abuse, but more research will need to be done to ensure that it is a safe and ethical way to address these kinds of sensitive issues.
