Finding a private setting for online therapy

It's strongly recommended that you have a quiet, private place in which you will be able to read and respond to your therapeutic emails. Frequent interruptions could make it difficult to stay 'in the moment' during your sessions, which might lead to your getting less out of the therapy experience. You might also find that some strong emotions will come up for you as you read and/or write, which could become challenging if you are in a more public place, such as a coffee shop or your place of employment (there are some added concerns here, such as the possibility that some employers may monitor employees' online activities).

You are encouraged take these factors into consideration before making the decision to register for online counselling. Ultimately, it will be up to you to decide whether your chosen setting will meet your therapeutic needs.

If you think you will have difficulty finding a private place in which to do this important work, you might want to consider another approach, such as face-to-face counselling.
